Living to Deadline as Project 70 Launches

On Living Life in General:  The thing I’ve done and the persona I’ve lived for the greatest portion of my life, other than being a human 24/7, has been as a writer in the service of education, marketing and support to individuals and organisations in the business or general community. So, as I live out what is often called the Third Act, I choose to turn those hard-won writerly skills and habits to fulfilling my own aims and dreams. Some are dropped projects, while others are in the realm of the yet-to-be-dreamt and done.

My paper sheafs and electronic archives overflow with my writing and insights, plus outside resources to help me achieve. Now, I delve into them to move steadily towards a creative and secure retirement.

I teeter now on that edge. This summer, my birthday tumblers clicked into place on a “0” which, along with a “5”, holds significance in our cultures.

Well, this year the dial also advanced to the magical, lucky, “7 “.  All this makes one extra aware of there being far fewer summers, special holidays, family visits and certainly birthdays ahead than behind.

Time to think legacy. My name is not on buildings I have built or donated to. It is not yet on any scholarships to fund youth, disadvantaged or seekers of social or scientific excellence. My name will likely not be part of laudatory speeches as much of my work served without my name on it, and its purpose was mostly for its time, not as a permanent publication like a book, yet.

On Living Life Specifically: My living legacy is my now adult children. And while they don’t actively carry my family’s name, they do bring great benefit to the world through their genetic and cultural DNA blended in their innate and unique passions and talents. I am so very proud of how each has applied themselves to reach for their life roles and how they are in their context. It may be that in the busyness of everyday and the accelerated intensity of life on our planet, my part from nature’s mother to them, to their environmental nurture, is quietly floating down to join the foundational sediment of all who came before.

Growing up, I first heard this phrase from Dr. Wayne Dyer, “Don’t die with the music in you.”

Surely, all our wisdom and experiences were not JUST for our evolution in what some call, ‘earth school’. I feel we need to share those life lessons. Where to begin. How to sift the most important or interesting to us, to others?

Now, it’s my time to divest, or in writer’s terms, to edit what must go for me to advance to my goals of sharing, and to live life in as much health, joy, and clarity as I can muster. For writers, working towards a deadline is hugely important, so I will apply what I know most, if not best, to living well to the ultimate deadline.

Let’s explore together. I have a plan to share based on those proven principles of writing. And the rest like vision, mission and means, will be revealed in my quest of living to deadline in addition to writing to deadline on this project.
